Step 1: Your Cycle Basics
When you first open Lova, it asks for two numbers:
- Cycle length: How many days from the start of one period to the start of the next. The average is 28 days, but anywhere from 21 to 35 days is normal.
- Period length: How many days your period usually lasts. Typically 3 to 7 days.
Don't stress about getting these exact — Lova learns your actual pattern as you log more cycles and updates its predictions automatically.

Step 2: Log Your Last Period
Telling Lova when your last period started helps it make a useful prediction right away. You can skip this and start fresh — it will still work, it will just take a full cycle before predictions appear.
- Tap Enter last period date
- Scroll to the correct month and day
- Tap Done
Step 3: Choose Your Tracking Mode
Lova offers a few different modes depending on what you want to track:
- Period Tracking: Just log when your period starts and ends. Simple and quick.
- Full Tracking: Also log symptoms, mood, sleep, and other health signals each day.
- Fertility Mode: Adds ovulation tracking, basal body temperature (BBT) logging, and cervical mucus notes for people trying to conceive or avoid pregnancy.
You can switch modes any time from Settings → Tracking Mode.
Step 4: Set Up Reminders
Reminders help you remember to log each day. To set one up:
- Go to Settings → Reminders
- Tap Add Reminder
- Pick a time that works for you (morning or evening works well for most people)
- Tap Save
Reminders are completely optional — Lova works just as well if you open it when you remember.

Step 5: Explore the Settings
A few other settings worth checking before you get started:
- App lock: Require Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN to open Lova — great if you share your phone.
- Partner sharing: Share limited info (like "period this week") with a partner without giving them access to your full data.
- Multi-device sync: If you use both an iPhone and iPad, you can set up encrypted device-to-device sync.
