What to Do If the App Crashes

Frustrating — but fixable. And the first thing to know: your data is safe. Lova stores everything in a scrambled (encrypted) file on your device, so a crash can't corrupt or delete your cycle history.

ℹ️

Your data is never at risk from a crash

Lova writes your data to secure, encrypted storage on your phone, not to memory that gets wiped when an app closes. A crash is just the app stopping unexpectedly — your period logs, symptoms, and notes are all still there when you reopen it.

Try these first (takes 2 minutes)

1

Close Lova completely and reopen it

Swipe it away in your recent apps and open it fresh.

2

Restart your phone

A full restart clears temporary glitches that can cause crashes.

3

Check for a Lova update

An update may already fix the crash you're seeing. Check for updates in the early access programme.

4

Check your phone's software version

Make sure your iOS or Android is up to date — very old OS versions can cause compatibility issues.

1 Clear the App Cache

🍎

iPhone (iOS)

  1. 1 Go to your iPhone Settings.
  2. 2 Scroll down and tap General → iPhone Storage.
  3. 3 Find Lova in the list and tap it.
  4. 4 Tap "Offload App" — this frees up space without deleting your data.
  5. 5 Reinstall Lova from the early access link.
  6. 6 Your data is exactly as you left it.

Android

  1. 1 Open your phone's Settings app.
  2. 2 Tap Apps (or Application Manager) → Lova.
  3. 3 Tap Storage → Clear Cache.
  4. 4 Reopen Lova.

2 Check Your Phone's Storage

Running very low on storage (less than a few hundred megabytes free) can make any app unstable. Check your phone's storage:

  • iPhone: Settings → General → iPhone Storage
  • Android: Settings → Storage

Aim to have at least 500 MB free. Delete photos, videos, or apps you no longer need to free up space.

3 Reinstall Lova (Last Resort)

If nothing else has worked, a clean reinstall usually solves it:

  1. 1 First, export your data — go to Settings → Data → Export before uninstalling. This gives you a backup.
  2. 2 Delete Lova from your phone.
  3. 3 Reinstall using your early access link.
  4. 4 Import your exported data to restore your history.

4 Tell Us About It

Crash reports help us fix things faster. Go to Settings → Help → Report Issue and tell us:

  • What you were doing when it crashed
  • Whether it happens every time or occasionally
  • Your device model (e.g. iPhone 14, Samsung Galaxy S23) and iOS/Android version
ℹ️

No health data in crash reports

Bug reports contain only technical information — device type, app version, error code. Your period data, symptoms, and notes are never included.
