Setting Up Privacy Features

Add extra protection to keep your health data private, even on shared devices.

Why Additional Protection?

Your data is already encrypted on your device. These settings add another layer - preventing someone who picks up your phone from opening the app.

1

Enable App Lock

Require authentication to open Lova:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Security
  2. 2. Toggle App Lock on
  3. 3. Choose your preferred method

Authentication Options

Biometric

Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint

PIN

4-6 digit code

Pattern

Draw pattern (Android only)

Use Biometrics

Biometric unlock is most convenient - you likely already unlock your phone this way.

2

Set Auto-Lock Timeout

Automatically lock Lova after inactivity:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Security → Auto-Lock
  2. 2. Choose your preferred timeout

Immediately

Lock as soon as app is backgrounded

1 minute

Short delay for quick returns

5 minutes

Balanced security and convenience

15 minutes

Longer sessions before re-authentication

3

Hide App Preview

Prevent app preview from showing in recent apps/app switcher:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Security
  2. 2. Enable Hide Preview

With this on, Lova shows a blank screen in the app switcher instead of your actual data.

Lock Individual Entries

For extra-sensitive notes:

  1. 1. When viewing an entry, tap the lock icon
  2. 2. That entry requires authentication to view, even when app is unlocked

Already Protected By Default

Even without these settings, your data is:

Stored only on your device
Encrypted with AES-256
Never uploaded anywhere
Inaccessible to Lova

App Lock adds protection against physical access to your unlocked phone.

Remember Your PIN

If you forget your app PIN and can't use biometrics, you may need to reinstall the app. We cannot reset your PIN because we don't store it.
