Why Backup?
1
Protect Against Loss
Device loss or damage won't mean losing your health history
2
Easy Transfer
Move data to new devices seamlessly
3
Keep Archives
Maintain long-term records of your health journey
⚠️
No Cloud Recovery
We don't have your data, so we can't recover it. Backups are your safety net.
Creating an Encrypted Backup
Step 1: Open Backup Settings
- Go to Settings → Your Data → Backup
- Tap Create Encrypted Backup
Step 2: Set a Strong Password
- Choose a password you'll remember
- Use at least 12 characters
- Mix letters, numbers, and symbols
⚠️
Remember This Password
If you forget the password, the backup is unrecoverable. We cannot reset it. Write it down somewhere safe.
Step 3: Save the Backup File
Choose where to save:
- Files app: Save locally or to cloud drive
- Email: Send to yourself
- AirDrop: Transfer to another device
- USB drive: Save via computer
Where to Store Backups
The backup file is encrypted, so you can store it anywhere:
- Cloud storage: iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox (encrypted, so safe)
- USB drive: Physical backup you control
- Computer: Local folder on your desktop
- Email: Email to yourself for easy access
Restoring from Backup
On a New Device
- Install Lova
- Open the app
- Go to Settings → Your Data → Restore
- Select your backup file
- Enter your password
- Data is restored locally
ℹ️
Merge Not Available
Restore replaces current data - it doesn't merge. If you have data on both the device and backup, choose which to keep.
Backup Schedule
We recommend backing up:
- Monthly (set a calendar reminder)
- Before switching devices
- After importing significant data
- Before major app updates
Security
Backup files are encrypted with:
- AES-256 encryption
- Your password (never stored or transmitted)
- Secure key derivation (PBKDF2)
