Understanding Predictions

How Lova calculates your next period, ovulation, and fertile window.

How Predictions Work

Lova predicts your cycle based on your personal history, not assumptions. The algorithm analyzes:

Your logged period dates

Average cycle length

Natural variation patterns

Additional data (symptoms, BBT)

1

Period Predictions

Your next period is predicted based on:

  • • Your average cycle length (e.g., 28 days)
  • • Your typical variation (e.g., ±2 days)
  • • Recent cycle patterns

Prediction Confidence

Lova shows confidence ranges. "Expected Dec 15 (± 2 days)" means Dec 13-17 is most likely.

New Users

With limited data, Lova:

  • • Starts with a 28-day assumption (average)
  • • Asks about your typical cycle length
  • • Quickly adapts to your actual pattern
2

Ovulation Predictions

Ovulation typically occurs 12-16 days before your next period. Lova estimates:

  • • Most likely ovulation day based on your luteal phase
  • • Confidence window (usually 3-4 days)

Estimates Only

Ovulation predictions are estimates. For conception or contraception purposes, use additional methods (OPKs, BBT) for confirmation.

3

Fertile Window

The fertile window includes:

  • • 5 days before ovulation (sperm can survive)
  • • Ovulation day
  • • 1 day after ovulation (egg viability)

Lova highlights this window on your calendar.

Improving Accuracy

Log every period, even irregular ones
Mark the exact start and end dates
After 3-4 cycles, predictions become personalized
Add BBT, cervical mucus, or OPK data for better ovulation estimates

Let Data Guide You

Rather than manually adjusting cycle settings, continue logging accurately. Lova will learn and adapt to your actual patterns over time.

When Predictions May Be Off

Predictions are less reliable when:

You've recently started tracking
Your cycles are irregular
Life changes (stress, travel, illness)
Coming off hormonal birth control
Postpartum or breastfeeding

Adjusting Predictions

If predictions seem consistently off:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Cycle Settings
  2. 2. View Cycle Length and Luteal Phase
  3. 3. Adjust if you know your typical values
