BBT Charting

Understand your basal body temperature chart and what it reveals about your cycle.

Viewing Your Chart

1
Open Lova
2
Tap Charts or Insights
3
Select BBT Chart

You can view by cycle or across multiple cycles to see patterns.

Understanding the Chart

Temperature Scale

The Y-axis shows temperature in your preferred unit (°C or °F). The range is typically narrow (about 1°F or 0.5°C) to show subtle changes.

The Coverline

Lova draws a horizontal coverline on your chart:

Calculated from your pre-ovulation temperatures
Usually 0.1°F above the highest of your last 6 temps before the shift
Helps visualize the temperature shift

Temperature Shift

After ovulation, you should see:

A rise of 0.2°C (0.4°F) or more

Sustained for at least 3 days

Temps staying above the coverline

3-Day Confirmation

Lova confirms ovulation when 3 consecutive temperatures are above the coverline. This is the standard fertility awareness method.

Chart Patterns

Biphasic (Normal)

Two distinct phases: lower temps before ovulation, higher after

Monophasic

Flat temps without clear shift - may indicate anovulatory cycle

Slow Rise

Gradual temperature climb over several days - normal variation

Fallback Rise

Rises, dips briefly, rises again - initial rise still indicates ovulation

Chart Markers

Lova marks special events on your chart:

Red dots Period days
Star Confirmed ovulation
Open circles Unreliable temps (excluded)
Small dot Notes exist for this day

Adjusting Temperatures

If you took your temperature at an unusual time:

1

Tap the data point on the chart

2

Add a note about the time difference

3

Mark as "unreliable" if needed

Time Adjustment

Some fertility awareness methods suggest adjusting temps by 0.1°F per 30 minutes if taken early/late. Lova can show both raw and adjusted values.

Compare Multiple Cycles

1
Open BBT chart
2
Tap Compare Cycles
3
