Export Failed

Fix issues when creating backups or exporting your cycle data.

Quick Fix

Most export failures are caused by insufficient storage space or permission issues. Free up at least 50MB of space and ensure Lova has storage access in your device settings.

1 Export Format Options

Lova supports multiple export formats for different needs:

.lova

Full data restoration

Encrypted backup (recommended)

.json

Data portability, analysis

Plain text export

Recommended Format

Use .lova format for backups. It's encrypted and includes all your data for easy restoration.

2 Common Error Messages

Error	Solution
Insufficient storage	Free up at least 50MB on your device
Permission denied	Grant Lova access to storage/files
Export interrupted	Keep app open until export completes
Encryption failed	Try exporting without encryption first

3 Fix Storage Issues

Export requires temporary storage space. To check and free up space:

iOS

Settings → General → iPhone Storage

Android

Settings → Storage

Free up space by:

Deleting unused apps
Clearing app caches
Moving photos to cloud storage

4 Check Permissions

Lova needs storage/file access to save exports:

iOS

1. Open Settings → Lova
2. Enable "Files and Folders" access
3. Allow "Save to Files" when exporting

Android

1. Open Settings → Apps → Lova
2. Tap Permissions
3. Enable Storage/Files access

5 Alternative Export Methods

If direct export fails, try these alternatives:

Share via Cloud

Export directly to iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or Dropbox instead of local storage

Share via Email

Email the export file to yourself as an attachment

Cloud Export

When exporting to cloud services, ensure you have an active internet connection and sufficient cloud storage quota.

6 Correct Export Process

Follow these steps for a successful export:

1 Open Lova and go to Settings → Backup & Export
2 Choose Create Backup (for .lova) or Export Data (for .json/.csv)
3 For encrypted backups, enter a strong password
4 Choose where to save (Files, Cloud, Email)
5 Keep the app open until export completes

⚠️

Don't Close the App

Switching apps or locking your phone during export may cause it to fail. Wait for the success message.

Still Not Working?

If exports continue to fail:

Try exporting a smaller date range
Try a different export format (.json instead of .lova)
Report the issue on GitHub with the error message
